The team have now completed the abseil! It was a frosty but sunny day, and the entire team bravely made it down the building. We are so close to our target; any donations would be greatly received - thank you!
This December, seven members of the Chalcots Estate team will be abseiling down Burnham tower dressed as elves raising money for Doorstep London. On Saturday 10th December we will be hosting a Christmas fair for the 3,500 residents across the estate to enjoy mince pies, Christmas carols and to receive presents from Santa. They will get an extra surprise when our seven elves bravely abseil down the tower – descending from 22 floors above them.
The team are raising money for Doorstep London, the project’s partner charity, who provide support to families experiencing homelessness in Camden. They look after around 90 families and provide: after school clubs, food packages, holiday programmes for the children, free laundry services, and a weekly bazaar where families can receive donated goods e.g. clothes, books etc. Having been inspired by the great work the charity does, the team is ready to take on the challenge.
The team have visited the roof and will be doing safety training in advance - no one has dropped out yet, so any donations would be greatly appreciated, and will be fantastic motivation on the day. Thank you!
