As a collective, we aim to reach £500 for our chosen charity for this challenge, Vida: Vida deliver specialist therapy services for women & girls, training and awareness-raising, and engage with partners to tackle domestic & sexual abuse, and in particular violence against women & girls. Current priorities are to extend the reach of our Eva Therapy Service, providing 1 to 1 trauma-focused therapy and group work programmes, and our crafts based peer-support group, to a broader range of women & girls affected by any form of abuse [age 16+]. Why the community needs usThe work of Vida [formerly Sheffield Domestic Abuse Forum] has always been at the forefront of work in Sheffield to support and protect women and children affected by abuse, while promoting more effective and coordinated multi-agency responses to their needs through training and awareness events. We are also involved in public awareness campaigns and prevention work with children and young people, to help reduce future levels of abuse in Sheffield. Our impact on the communityWomen who use our Eva services report great improvements in their emotional wellbeing, self-esteem and relationships, making themselves and their children more resilient to future harm. Eva Therapy Service clients show measurable reductions in symptoms of depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress. Vida training is consistently well evaluated by participants from a broad range of agencies and backgrounds.
