I'm running the Cardiff Half Marathon as a way of giving something back and saying thank you, to the Paul Popham running club, part of the Paul Popham Fund Renal Support Wales. As a charity, they do amazing work in supporting kidney patients to lead a better quality life, and helping them to learn that kidney disease and illness, does not have to prevent them leading an active life. The British Transplant Games has just been hosted in Newport, and the Paul Popham Fund has supported Welsh athletes who took part in the event. Similarly, the charity was delighted to support Welsh team members in both the World, European and British Transplant Games last year. Fundraising is the only way to provide this support, so please give generously!
Although not a runner, I joined the running club in March 2018, as a means to go from couch to 5K and improving my fitness. I'm still there, and with their support, encouragement and friendship, have improved my distance and pace, with weekly running sessions throughout the year. Funds raised through the Swansea 2019 5K series, which the running club has held for the third year running, were put towards the sponsorship fund for the Welsh Team in the British Transplant Games. They are a running 'family' that I love being a part of! Im amazed I've come this far, and am looking forward to taking part in my first half marathon in Cardiff this October.
Please give generously! Thank you.
