Manchester YMCA Firewalk

Help me raise funds for YMCA Manchester and its community projects which improve the lives of vulnerable and marginalised young people across Manchester and Salford. On Friday 24th March, at the Castlefield Hotel, I’m going to be walking on hot coals on behalf of the Manchester YMCA’s ‘Inspiring Futures’ Project which works with young people aged 24 and under who provide care, assistance or support to another family member. They provide this care on a regular basis, and it is significant and substantial, requiring a level of responsibility that would normally be associated with an adult. The transition into adulthood and employment for young carers can be complicated by a lack of qualifications, limited social skills and the pressures associated with a continuing caring role. The project increases the confidence, social skills and employability of this group, and engages with them to achieve positive outcomes in their education, physical and mental wellbeing, socialisation, and independence, by delivering work related social skills workshops and individual support.
