We engage with young people every week night in local parks or other areas where many of them congregate. In partnership with the local police and the use of their Youth Resource Vehicle we offer a safe and dry meeting point for young people. The vehcile is staffed by qualified and trained personel with the help of volunteers from both N-Gage and the police.The vehicle has video games and laptops to occupy the young people. During summer months it is planned to have outdoor recreational games.

N-Gage's heart is for young people who for various reasons find themselves on the edge of social exclusion both educationally and in the community. Our 'Catalyst' programme engages with young people who are 'just hanging around' local parks at night with nothing to do. Youth provision has been reduced due to local authority cuts and there is little to occupy the young people we engage with. Many of the Youth Clubs are not within the local community where we operate.

Since its commencement last November (2011) over 800 young people have attended the project. Many of these attendees have been returning on a regular basis and relationships have been developing during this time. These realationships have helped the staff talk about many of the issues facing young people today.We are anticipating that numbers will increase during the summer months. One of the biggest results has been a noticible decrease in anti-social behaviour which threatens many communities
