Those of you who know me will know how hard I am going to find this challenge - in fact, my husband is contemplating moving to another county or, indeed, country while I'm attempting to get through a whole month with no wine and no chocolate. However, I am determined to succeed and hope that some of you will sponsor me by donating to Throstle Nest Riding for the Disabled Group for whom I am fund raising again. The RDA Group needs ongoing funding to enable them to subsidise riding lessons for all the children with physical and learning disabilities who want to come and try horse riding and reap the many benefits it can offer them. Horse riding is expensive but it is also very good for disabled adults and children helping them to develop a relationship with the horse and the volunteers who help them, giving them confidence, increasing their self esteem and also aiding improvements in their physical condition. Also it is fun! The group hopes to offer achievement and enjoyment in equal measure! They need to raise money all the time to be able to continue to subsidise the riding lessons so that the disabled adults and children can afford to come. They also want to run more holiday and weekend courses including riding and pony care to fill the gaps left by the special schools and day centres that are not always available in school holidays, etc., leaving disabled children isolated and at home at these times.
Please sponsor me. I am going to have a horrible month (and so, I fear, are my family) but it will be worth it if I can raise funds to help us put on holiday courses.
