I would like to thank everyone who has donated - I have raised nearly £2500 including gift aid which is completely awesome! Thank you so much, this will go to the care of critically ill and injured patients in Suffolk.
The ride was hard (more hilly and windy than expected...)and I have lots of sore bits but it is your gifts that kept me going!
Suffolk Accident Rescue Service 'SARS' is an emergency medical charity that started over 40 years ago. Volunteer doctors and paramedics use their clinical skills to provide immediate pre-hospital care to the most critically ill and injured patients in Suffolk and surrounding areas. SARS responders are specially trained to bring 'the hospital to the roadside', providing interventions over and above the standard 999 response and saving many lives. We receive no statutory funding and all our responders volunteer in their spare time, supporting the East of England Ambulance Service to provide a seamless, high-quality service to patients. Our responders are an incredible bunch of selfless, dedicated professionals who quietly and effectively use their advanced clinical skills in the service of their local communities.
I have been responding for SARS for nearly 10 years and in that time have been privileged to help lots of patients. SARS provides me with equipment for monitoring and treatment, and now we need to provide equipment for new members who are currently being trained.
I started doing a bit of cycling when I was off work last year, but my normal longest ride is 25 - 30 miles, so London - Paris is a real challenge for me. Your donations will spur me to train harder, but most importantly they will make you part of this wonderful life-saving team. Thank you
