This group meets once a week for an hour to share recipes from diverse cultural backgrounds, make healthy snacks, sing, dance and learn more about how to maintain a healthy lifestyle in the UK.
Why they need our serviceThe toddlers involved in the group will begin to learn about healthy foods, from various cultures, from a young age. The group will not only help to spread healthy living ideals throughout some minority groups but will also provide the women with an opportunity to socialise whilst sharing and learning. Once a month the group would invite other mothers to the group to share what they have learnt, showcase their recipes and promote healthy living amongst their communities.
Plan and expected resultsSupporting this group would mean that black and ethnic minority women, children and their families would be given direct support in developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle which they can learn from and pass on to other members of their community. It will therefore set a positive example to the toddlers attending the group, promoting healthy eating habits from an early age, whilst acknowledging each member's cultural background.
