The promotion of opportunity and relief of poverty, sickness and distress for black and ethnic women and children of Suffolk. We support migrant women who are newly arrived in Suffolk and who are vulnerable to domestic abuse, providing advocacy and outreach specialist services. We offer training to professionals on domestic violence and create volunteer opportunities for women. We have youth and children's activities.
Why the community needs usPHOEBE is a specialist organization, managed by professionals who are sensitive to the needs of migrant women and their children. We are culturally aware of the historical disadvantage that women from developing countries may have experienced before coming to the UK and hence we are able to offer them a good service. We are a great resource to mainstream organizations because we offer training on best practice. Children and youth activities are also very welcome. Women and children feel safe.
Our impact on the communityWE have trained 350 professionals on domestic violence across East Anglia. We have supported 150 women fleeing domestic violence to find a safe place and start a new life, free from violence. Since 2007, we have worked with over 400 youth, in Suffolk and parts of East Anglia and they have maintained themselves in education and employment. We have made lasting networks with other agencies who have benefited from our work. We continue to offer a service for women and children in Suffolk.
