Young people receive accredited training in drugs awareness and also in communication and presentation skills. Then they visit youth clubs, community centres schools and other places where young people hang out to deliver workshops about drugs to other young people. The peer educators also deliver the street marketing in Camden on behalf of the 'Talk to Frank' drugs campaign. They receive street marketing training and provide information about drugs and alcohol.

Why they need our service

Local research and consultation shows that young people often lack knowledge about drugs or where to access information about drugs. Research has also shown that young people often rely on their peers for information about drugs. Young people know how to make information about drugs sound more interesting to other young people. Young people often prefer to talk to someone their own age about drugs rather than professionals.

Plan and expected results

During 2010/11, we will be working with young people from different youth clubs in Camden and support each group in organising an event that will attract other young people and provide opportunities for the peer educators to give out drugs information to them.
