Hellooo my name is Rachel and I have signed up to do a 15,000ft (the highest you can go without needing an oxygen supply!) sky dive to raise money for Jeremiah's Journey. It is a tandem skydive Guinness World Record attempt; the aim is to get 333 people to do a tandem skydive in 24 hours.
In July 2014 I was lucky enough to join Jeremiah's Journey as their Project Coordinator. Jeremiah's Journey is a small charity local to Plymouth and the surrounding areas. It was founded in 1996 and has been supporting local families for the past 19 years.
Since I started with the charity I have worked with over 150 children and young people who have had someone special to them die. It is my job to provide support to bereaved children, young people and their families through individual work and a therapeutic group programme. We use creative activities to enable children and young people to express their feelings of grief, share their memories, and explore ways of coping. The aim is to encourage happy memories and resilience for the future while continuing their bond with their special person.
Through my work, I am amazed and inspired on a daily basis by the strength, courage and resilience that the children, young people and families show and I feel privileged to be welcomed into their lives, allowed to listen to their stories, and asked to support them in their journey's.
Please help me raise money to ensure Jeremiah's Journey can continue to support children, young people and their families through such difficult times.
