To provide support and information to children, young people and their parents/carers, who have experienced or are anticipating the death of someone special. We offer help in a variety of ways to best support each family. This could be through our therapeutic group programme, where creative activities are used to enable children to; express their feelings of grief, share memories and explore ways of coping. The aim is to encourage happy memories and resilience for the future. We also offer individual sessions, advice to professionals, training to teachers and run an advice line. Our aim is to acknowledge the experience of grief for both children and their parents/carers. By running groups for those with similar experiences, we aim to reduce the sense of isolation often felt by grieving children. By providing support for the whole family, we hope that it opens up communication between family members. We also provide professional training for those who work with children and want advice.
Why the community needs us
Jeremiah's Journey has seen a significant increase both in the volume and complexity of its casework. This was putting strain on the budget even before the Covid-19 crisis. which has led to the cancellation of events in our fundraising programme. The charity needs to raise £25,000pm just to maintain its current work, plus more to expand and meet the growing need. Your donation, however big or small, is important to us and to the children and families you help us to support.
Our impact on the community
At the end of each group programme, families are given the opportunity to provide feedback on the experience of our service. We also have an open door policy so families can re-access our service if they feel that they need to. We have a low uptake of this, due to reported satisfaction with the service. Your kind and generous donations will benefit those still needing our services by enabling the charity to continue it's work. YOU MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
