We need to empty the building of assorted rubbish that others have deposited there. We'll then install a functioning heating system and overhaul the electrics and water, and have functioning toilets. A total of four rooms will be repainted, one will be shelved and the others will be carpeted. Young people will empty the building in Easter 2011 as part of their D of E service in the community. We aim to have the building in usable condition by September 2011.

Why they need our service

We've been given the opportunity to use a redundant pre-fabricated concrete building close to Berwick High School and Tweedmouth Middle School. We're going to turn it into a base for our outdoor activities, storing and drying gear, and a training space for mapwork, etc. It will give us the opportunity to create a 'lending library' of boots, rucsacs and waterproofs for those who are on a low budget, and somewhere to properly care for group equipment like tents.

Plan and expected results

We will provide an out-of-school meeting place that will extend the reach and the quality of our outdoor activity programme. We will be able to maintain and secure equipment to a much higher standard.
