On Sunday we're doing a sponsored ride and tie (a sort of timed relay race with one horse between the two of us) in support of Throstle Nest Riding for the Disabled. This little group of hardworking volunteers runs riding and horse care sessions for adults and children with a variety of disabilities including autism, spina bifida, learning difficulties and visual impairment. It's a very active group and there are lessons every day of the week, usually taking place in the indoor arena which means they can carry on all year round. The group even carry on over the summer holidays, providing lessons and horse care for a number of different groups. As well as being fantastic fun, horse riding can increase confidence and is physically beneficial. The smiles on the faces of the riders says it all! Please help us to help the group. Any donation you can make is very much appreciated. Thanks for looking. Liz and Helen UPDATE. Thanks to everybody who has donated- your money will go to support the riders' lessons and buy new equipment. It's really very much appreciated. We put our 'all' into the event and managed a very respectable 2nd place in the 'two riders from one family' section. AND second place for our fancy dress. Pictures may follow on Facebook...
