Hi, Sarah here! So one day I get a brief text from a friend, Paul, saying 'fancy doing the Brum 10k in Sept, its only 6 miles'. I'll admit I was slightly hesitant not being a runner and all but I eventually agreed and Paul said I could choose the charity we would raise money for. Paul is one of my best friends and has been for over 15 years, he is more like family to me. So I chose the charity RSVP and now we are signed up and (nearly) ready to run like loonies through Sutton Park. Here is why I chose RSVP. On the 15th August 2010 my world was turned upside down by the selfish actions of one man. The Rape and Sexual Violence Project West Midlands (RSVP) were there to pick up the pieces and have given me more support in the last 4 years than I can ever thank them for. Without the help of everyone I met at RSVP and my family and friends I do not think I would still be here today. RSVP offer support to women, children and men affected by sexual violence and abuse. They support people whether they report a crime to the police or not. They offer individual counselling, group support, help through the legal process, a helpline and much more. All of these incredible services require funding which is why Paul and I want to try and raise money to help them continue with the great work that they do. Every single penny really does count so pleases give as much as you are able to. Thank you for your support Sarah & Paul :)
