STOP PRESS!

As you can see from the latest update below, I have complete the challenge :-) A sincere thank you to all my sponsors so far. This page will remain open for a few more days for additional donations. Once they are in the ground, we will mark the locations of the trees planted on our website so make sure you go to look at https://www.ethicalreading.org.uk/programmes/sustainability/trees-for-reading/

I love trees, do you? If you do, you can help by donating to this great cause.

I'm very lucky to have good tree cover where I live but unfortunately many people don't. Trees in towns and cities lock away carbon, improve air quality and create a haven for wildlife. They help to cool the air in summer and absorb water from heavy rains. They also create a better ambiance, helping to improve people’s mental and physical wellbeing.

I am delighted to play a part towards greening Reading and making it a better place to live and work. Most of the trees planted through this programme are planted in areas with few existing trees, especially near schools and hospitals.

My goal is to complete 100 miles in 30 days to raise funds so we can plant more trees and raise awareness about climate change.  That's a quite a tough goal for a 62 year old asthmatic! I plan to run mostly outdoors but will also doing some indoor running. The clock starts ticking from April 3rd and I plan to completed the 100 miles by May 2nd. An important part of this challenge will be to run in the Reading Half Marathon which is coming up rather quickly!

Please give whatever you feel comfortable with. Each donation, not matter how small, contributes to a wonderful legacy that will be enjoyed by many future generations living in our town.
