I am running a half marathon as part of the 'Cheltenham Challenge' in June this year, to help raise money toward the purchase of Oldfield Farm for Good News Family Care Ltd.
I first came into contact with Good News Family care, when I met the charity manager, Mrs Hazel Guest, at a Christian event called Grapevine, in 1998.
My wife and I became supporters and also volunteers for the charity for several years, until we moved to Buxton to get more involved.
From March 2002 I worked part time for the charity, until in 2005 I became a full time member of staff, working on their farm project. We offer training and work experience for unemployed adults, among other things.
The charity is now working to expand its vision by buying a local farm, both house and land, to use as a recovery centre for women trying to overcome life controlling addictions.
I started running in 2012 and have thought of doing a run to raise money for the charity. This half marathon is the first time I have done anything like this. I apologise to those who think it should be the full 26 miles. I have chosen the shorter distance, as I am confident of achieving it.
Many thanks to those who give, in support of this worthy cause.
