Hello everyone, I've watched the London Marathon on television for the last 30 years and always thought that I'd like to have a go. This year, it occurred to me that I was about to turn 50 and that I ought to get on and do something about it as the physical challenge would only get harder as the years went by. So I entered the ballot... I'd known the chances of getting in were slim - something like 1 in 16 - and when I got the magazine saying 'You're In' last October, I read the acceptance form about 3 times to make sure I'd read it right with a mounting sense of panic and a few rude words. About 2 hours later I started to get excited. Well here I am now, less than 3 weeks away from the marathon. All the time I was training through the cold and the frost and not much rain thankfully, I wanted to ask for sponsorship but I didn't dare ask as I was sure my body would break down and I'd have to pull out. But it hasn't so far and now my longest run is behind me (20 miles!) I feel confident enough to ask. Please sponsor me - I would like there to be a point to all this training and not just my mid-life crisis! I've chosen this charity as my home and the people in it are very important to me and I feel for anyone who doesn't have a safe home. If you want to try and look out for me on the 23rd April, I'll be wearing a blue t-shirt and the rather garish leggings in the photo. My running number is 5699. It'll take me at least 5 hours to finish so you'll have plenty of time to look! Wish me luck! Thanks Sam
