Santas Rock Snowdon 2016!

Last year a group of us wanted to do something special for WAYC in the lead up to Christmas. WAYC is a local charity that has supported vulnerable young people in Warwickshire and Coventry for over 60 years. We also work with local youth clubs; train up youth workers and much. We originally thought about doing a Santa Dash but that had already been done. So...rather than invent the wheel we decided to take it to the next level. Lets put Santa up a mountain! And so, Santas Up Snowdon was born. That was last year and whilst we raised over £800 we're ready to take it to the next level again! We are proud to announce Santas Rock Snowdon 2016!! On the 14th December 2016 a musical band of Santas will perform a selection of Christmas classics on the summit of Mount Snowdon. We will set off first thing in the morning and aim to reach Snowdonia by 09:30. By 12:00 midday we hope to have reached the summit and will there perform the highest gig in the country! And why this ridiculous venture... Because right now approximately 3 young people in every classroom have been diagnosed with a mental health disorder. 1 in 10 young people self harm regularly and over half of all diagnosed cases of mental ill health begin at 14! WAYC does some amazing work supporting young people affected by illnesses such as depression and anxiety. The Sharp Minds project helps create inclusive environments where young people who are struggling with these issues can meet with others who understand and also experiencing these illnesses. The result is positive relationships form; young people are no longer isolated; they have friends they can turn to and who support them and can support them in turn. So this is why we are doing this!
