Hello Everyone!
My name is Shaun. I have become involved with the Paul Popham Fund through my current role as a Renal Youth Worker in Morriston Hospital in Swansea and the Heath Hospital in Cardiff.
The Paul Popham Fund were kind enough to support a group of young kidney patients from all across South Wales to go on a weekend away down to Newgale in West Wales in August 2015.
During the four days in Newgale the group did:
• Kayaking
• Climbing
• High ropes courses
• Powerboat trip around Ramsey Island
• Surfing
• Coasteering
• Beach games
• Learnt bush craft skills
• Talked to each other about living with Chronic Kidney Disease and Kidney Failure.
• Made new friends
• Pushed themselves and overcame some of their fears!
Needless to say it was a busy few days!
Young people were raving about the trip when we got back and they wrote a few qoutes, for example:
“Longer next time please!! Please can we do more things like this? I’ve made
friends for life!!”
“I think we should do things like this more often. It was the best ever!”
It was an amazing trip and just one of the many amazing things that the Paul Popham Fund continues to support.
In short then they are a brilliant charity and the work they do makes a huge difference to people's happiness and quality of life! So, to show my appreciation I am going to commit to fundraising for them in 2017and I will be taking part in the following:
Paris to Swansea Bike Ride (I am not a road biker...that could be interesting).
Running a couple of Races (Half Marathons and a 10k).
So, I will be putting my body through its paces and pushing myself to fundraise as much as I can for this charity! They are brilliant and I know anything that is raised will really go to helping and supporting people with kidney disease or kidney failiure.
Please, please take time to donate what you can! Thanks,Shaun!
