Assert already run a limited social activities programme to help increase life skills and reduce social isolation. We would like to extend the work that we can do in supporting individuals and groups to gain new skills through becoming more active in their community. For example, organising walks, art work shops, life skills workshops.

Why they need our service

People with Asperger syndrome or High Functioning Autism often have difficulty in three main areas; social communication, social interaction and social imagination. People with the condition can be very isolated and we aim to reduce the isolation and increase social and life skills in a supported and safe environment. People with the condition often fall between a gap in statutory service provision and so the support that we provide is essential to the well being of our service users.

Plan and expected results

A range of social and life skills activities for our service users with the aim of reducing isolation, increasing skills and confidence and a general improvement in both physical and mental health well being.
