Everybody feels lonely from time to time. At the Centre Project we recognise that all human beings face hardships from time to time. During these times we need someone to turn to or be around people for support and encouragement.
The Centre Project is a community hub, offering a safe space for people, mainly single vulnerable and socially isolated people, to get support at a time of crisis or critical moment and break isolation by joining our group activities and events.
Evidence carried out by the University of Oxford shows that there are wellbeing and mental health benefits from 'social eating'. In fact, the research states: "Those who eat socially more often feel happier and are more satisfied with life, are more trusting of others, are more engaged with their local communities, and have more friends they can depend on for support.”No-one likes to eat alone. Sadly, however, it is becoming more and more common for many of us to do so, especially those who, like our clients, live alone and have little or no social networks.
Our social eating events give people an opportunity to share a meal and feel more engaged with their community. It’s also a great time to build confidence and communication skills in discussion, debate and reflection.
- Please donate to enable us to run our kitchen and get fresh produce for a health nutritious meal.
- We are also looking for donations of dried food and kitchen cupboard goods to help make donations go further. We only accept food that is unopened and still has at least three months remaining on best before date. Please email info@centreproject.org if you have items you would like to donate to arrange dropping them at our kitchen.
Your donation will help us respond to people’s immediate need for food and nutritional support at times of crisis or critical moment in their lives.
Help us to make a difference.
