Hello friends and strangers!!
In just a month we will be running the Spartan Race in Cambridgeshire - Spartan is a 5k race with 20 obstacles! There will be mud, aching muscles and possibly my too early death (I hope I'm kidding about that part) and if we weren't running for a very good cause we'd have already ran away screaming softly.
We, the unfit potatoes we are, are running this small monster of an obstacle course as a fundraiser for an absolutely amazing LGBT+ youth charity in Cambridgeshire called SexYOUality. Which is incidentally with whom I, Nat, am about to finish my 6 month placement for my Social Work degree with!
I don't only want to give back for the experiences I got to make with the charity, the cause, to me as a queer person, is a very important and personal one.
Still, more than half of LGBT+ young people experience direct bullying because of their sexuality or gender identity. They are three times more likely to develop mental health problems, more than half deliberately harm themselves.
By supporting me, you support an amazing charity who has made it their goal for already 22 years to support these young LGBT+ people in need in all of Cambridgeshire. Your donation will help them to hold more 1-2-1 sessions, more workshops in school to battle homo- bi- and transphobia as well as the impact of language, and just offering these vulnerable young people a safe space to express themselves. It can be a life saver.
If you want to read up a bit more about SexYOUality - here's a link to their website: http://syacambs.org/
Now go and donate, you've read all of this and have basically already sealed the contract. Get your credit card out and your paypal account ready. I know you're there.
Thank you so SO so so much, absolutely every £ $ € counts - and now is to hoping we survive spartan!!
Nat and Rachel
