Since October 2019, Teen Talk have created a environmental group that goes out and takes part in Litter picks within the local community. This project is run by young people aged between 17-25 years old as well as members in our younger wildlife groups. The Young people not only pick up litter, they also sort out the litter and recycle avoiding it going into landfill.
As a Thank you to all these young people who have taken part, Teen Talk staff member Fern and Environmental group volunteer Blake will be going out to do a 10 mile walk on the 14th December 2019 to raise money for them to continue this project next year.
The money raised will help to buy equipment for the environmental group to run more litter picks next year. They would like to purchase wheelie bins to help carry the litter, this means they will be able to collect more on each litter pick, sensible footwear, high vis clothing, bin bags,more litter picks and gloves, waders etc..
Next year the group have planned to do over 30 Litter picks in the Harwich,Dovercourt, Parkeston and Ramsey areas to help make clean and litter free areas for the community to enjoy.
