At the end of 2014, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) invited colleagues to vote for a new charity to sponsor for 2015/16. Birmingham and Solihull Women's Aid (BSWAID) received the largest share of the vote and was chosen as our 'Charity of the Year'. The SRA will support BSWAID through a variety of exciting and varied events taking place during 2015/2016 and hope to raise as much money as possible for this great local charity. Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid (Reg. Charity No: 1073926) supports women and children affected by domestic violence, rape and sexual assault. The charity provides: *A helpline *Community-based and central drop-in services *Safe, emergency accommodation through five refuges *Outreach support in the community *Help with criminal and civil legal proceedings *Counselling *Family support *Training for professionals including the Police, Heath, Social Care and Education *Awareness raising work with children and young people The charity works in close partnership with agencies such as housing and the police to ensure the best outcomes for women and their children.
