At the end of 2014, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) invited colleagues to vote for a new charity to sponsor for 2015/16. Birmingham and Solihull Women's Aid (BSWAID) received the largest share of the vote and was chosen as our 'Charity of the Year'.
The SRA will support BSWAID through a variety of exciting and varied events taking place during 2015/2016 and hope to raise as much money as possible for this great local charity.
Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid (Reg. Charity No: 1073926) supports women and children affected by domestic violence, rape and sexual assault. The charity provides:
*A helpline
*Community-based and central drop-in services
*Safe, emergency accommodation through five refuges
*Outreach support in the community
*Help with criminal and civil legal proceedings
*Counselling
*Family support
*Training for professionals including the Police, Heath, Social Care and Education
*Awareness raising work with children and young people
