Streets2Homes was chosen as Astro Lighting’s charity of the year after co-founders John Fearon and James Bassant both met with Streets2Homes CEO Kerrie Eastman and were blown away by the incredible work the charity does on a day-to-day basis, and how much of a difference they make to individuals within the local area.
Streets2Homes supports homeless people, or those at risk of becoming homeless, by offering a day centre for individuals aged 18 and over. The charity offers essential support in finding accommodation, getting back into employment, opportunities to gain qualifications, as well as providing basic amenities such as hot meals, warm clothing and access to shower facilities. With a team of just three employees and around 20 volunteers, resources are spread thin on the ground and so the charity relies heavily on donations and support from the public and other local organisations.
John and James commented, - "At Astro Lighting, we have been very fortunate to have enjoyed success and growth since our foundation over 20 years ago. As we continue to grow, it is important to us that we give back to our local community. We feel very proud that one of the first actions we have been able to take is to partner with local charity Streets2Homes to support the incredible work they do for homeless people and those at risk of becoming homeless within the local Harlow area."
To continue our support of Streets2Homes, a team of 13 from Astro will be taking part in the ‘Tough Mudder - North London Race’ – a five or ten mile endurance event that requires a real team effort and will be quite muddy (to say the least!). The team are currently training for the event on Sunday 8th July 2018. Any donations will be gratefully received!
