Our Fundraiser: Running for Support, Strength, and Community
The Sudbury Rugby Club U13s are taking on an exciting challenge this December, and they’re doing it to support a charity that makes a lasting difference. We are raising money for The Kernos Centre, a local organisation providing professional counselling and psychological support since 2002. Kernos helps people facing emotional or mental-health difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and daily-life challenges. Their services are in high demand, and community support ensures that anyone who needs help can access it.
Our Challenge
To raise awareness and funds, the boys will run together as a team, aiming to complete a team marathon — or possibly two — within 60 minutes. Our rugby pitch measures 400 metres per loop, which means:
One marathon = 106 laps (42,200 metres) — an average of 7.6 laps per player per hour
Two marathons = almost 85,000 metres
This is a true test of teamwork, fitness, and determination, reflecting the values at the heart of rugby and the spirit of the fundraiser.
Why We’re Running
Just as Kernos supports people through difficult moments, our U13 squad wants to show what can be achieved when individuals come together with purpose. The boys understand that mental and emotional wellbeing is as important as physical health. By running for Kernos, they hope to raise both funds and awareness for essential services that help many across our community.
Your Impact
Your donation will:
Support counselling sessions for people who may not otherwise afford them
Help individuals in moments of crisis or vulnerability
Strengthen a charity that has been serving the community for over 20 years
Motivate our U13 players as they push themselves for a meaningful cause
Thank you for your support!
Sun 21 Dec 2025
The run will take place at Sudbury Rugby Club on Sunday 21 December 2025 at 12 noon and the boys will have 60 minutes to complete the task.
