Taking counselling further
The Kernos Centre is a small registered charity providing mental health counselling to children, young people, and adults in Sudbury, Suffolk, and the surrounding areas.
Established in April 2003, we operate without statutory funding, relying instead on client contributions and fundraising to sustain our services. We offer a range of flexible support, including face-to-face, online, walk-and-talk therapy, and adult relationship counselling.
Why the community needs us
We believe accessible mental health support is essential because emotional challenges can affect anyone, yet many people face significant barriers to getting help. Long waiting times, financial pressures, and ongoing stigma often prevent individuals from seeking support when they need it most. We aim to address this by offering affordable counselling in a safe, welcoming, and non-judgemental environment.
Through early intervention and continued support, we help improve wellbeing, strengthen relationships, and contribute to a more resilient and connected community.
Our impact on the community
Counselling can make a meaningful difference at any stage of life. It offers a confidential space for people to reflect, better understand themselves, and develop more effective ways of managing difficulties. Many individuals experience improved wellbeing, greater confidence, and more positive relationships as a result.
Our person-centred approach ensures that each individual’s needs are at the heart of the support we provide, helping people build resilience, make positive changes, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
