Hi all,
I have recently started volunteering as a mentor at Our Place Community Hub. Our Place is a Community Interest Company that works within the Sutton Coldfield community providing a range of advice and support services for children and families.
The Mentoring Scheme is run for children and parents that are in need of social and emotional support. This support is delivered through group and one to one sessions for individuals dealing with issues from low self confidence, bullying and anger management difficulties through to those that are suffering from neglect, homelessness, depression or are self harming.
Each year the Our Place team take on a new challenge to raise vital funds to keep the project running and enable them to help many many children/families that are suffering with a whole range of difficult circumstances.
The brilliant and infectiously enthusiastic Kelly Round, Our Place manager, has somehow managed to get me to join her in signing up to do a race called ‘The Suffering’ which is a 5k mud, water and obstacle course. I have never done anything like this before and probably never will again and it will be one of the most difficult challenges I have ever undertaken! So please, PLEASE show your support and belief in me by sponsoring me.
