Super Nanny Stands Up To Cancer On a Wing

Physical Challenge

Days left

It is that time of year again when someone offers to do something awesome to raise much needed funds for us.  This year I felt that someone should be me, Nicky Heath, the charity founder and C.E.O., who should rise to the challenge of helping to raise the £200,000 that we need to continue providing a free programme of therapies and support to the 250 cancer patients and carers who come to Yeleni Therapy & Support each year.

I was in awe of, and inspired by my partner Peter, aka Daredevil Great Grandad, who did the crazy loop the loop wing walk and helped raise an amazing £5,000 last year. I am 63, about to become a grandmother for the first time this August and prefer to have my feet firmly on the ground. However, I have decided to be an example to my future granddaughter, stepping out of my comfort zone, strapped to the wing of a plane to show her that you can still achieve great things no matter how old you are. So, on Friday 13th September I will Stand Up to Cancer on a Wing!
I have seen Yeleni Therapy & Support grow and develop over the years. I am immensely proud of what we have been able to achieve and the fact that we have supported over 1,100 local people with their cancer journey, working with The County hospital Hereford, local GPs and social prescribers. We carry the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark and are recognised nationally as a cancer care centre of excellence. This year we introduced the Yeleni Breast Cancer Support Service, where we offer monthly meetings, free Pilates sessions and the opportunity to speak to a breast cancer nurse specialist. Listening to our patients needs, we also set up the Gynaecological Cancer Support Group, as well helping to set up The Men’s Cancer Support Group. Next year, I want to introduce further support sessions with creative writing, art therapy, sound therapy and a varied exercise programme. All of which will need funding but will give our cancer patients the BEST possible support.
I also do this in memory of my dear brother Mark, my beautiful sister in law Sandy, my beloved Granny and my lovely Aunty Sheila, all of whom lost their battle with cancer but who continue to inspire me to help and support as many cancer patients as I can, to live with and beyond their cancer. Thank you for your donation.
Love, Nicky, aka Super Nanny xxx
