CHESS provides a service which helps rough sleepers. We make streets safer by providing hospital beds, food, clothing, laundry, training, job search support, counselling and accommodation. Our services also facilitate increased self-esteem, love and kindness, healthy living, and outdoor exercise.
Why they need our serviceCHESS cares for single homeless in Essex and has progressed to a 25 bed accommodation operation with a Day Centre where residents and drop-in clients can shower, eat, wash clothes, learn and get help and to restore themselves to normal living. Should CHESS exceed its revenue target, the full project could be sustained for longer.
Plan and expected resultsCHESS has 25 residents in its houses. CHESS plans to open its Day Centre weekdays and all weekends. From October to end March, 8 street sleepers are given overnight shelter. We measure occupancy, attendance, participation in meaningful activities, numbers of hot drinks and hot meals served, job and accommodation placements, training deliveries and sustainability via funding.
