For 85 years Jubilee Swimming Pool in Knowle, Bristol has been a vital leisure facility for its local community. Now the swimming pool is under serious threat from closure with Bristol City Council proposing to shut the doors forever in March 2022.

The Friends of Jubilee Pool are a group of volunteers who want to save the pool for future generations by bringing it into community ownership. There is a good chance and they have the expertise to do this. However, as a voluntary organisation they need funds to be able to cover the costs of the professional help need on the first steps towards managing the pool.

That's why, on 29th and 30th January 2022, they are hosting a 24 hour fundraising swimming relay at the pool! Over 24 hours they will looking for as many participants as can safely gather to try and swim continuously, nearly 10,000 lengths or the equivalent of swimming from Bristol to London.

I will be joining for two hours of swimming so I can help raise money towards the fight to save the pool. The money will help to access legal advice, accountancy, marketing and communications, funding, specialist structural surveys, as well as to develop the business plan.
