Hi there, for those of you who have been kind enough to follow and sponsor me in the past .....Thank you again!! and for those of you who are first time supporters, please read below about why I am so passionate about taking to the open water and this year pushing personal limits by swimming 10km!!!!!
Just the Job Environmental Enterprise Ltd is a not for profit Social Enterprise and charity, operating from Richmond, North Yorkshire. We aim to provide employment, education, work based training and social opportunities for vulnerable adults http://just-the-job.org.uk/. I started working for Just the Job as an Occupational Therapist several years ago. My role is aimed at helping all the individuals achieve what they want, need and have to do through work, leisure and self-care activities such as basic cooking and learning about how to maintain healthy lifestyles. I also assess work equipment and make recommendations / adaptations in order to ensure participation in all activities, despite physical, mental and or learning disability. Last year, my wonderful supporters raised enough money to buy 2 new 2 wheeled wheelbarrows! These have had such a positive impact and brightened everybody's day!
If you would like to support me this year, any donation would be greatly received. The monies raised will help to develop a sensory garden, which we would love to fill with scented plants, a water feature, wind chimes, mirrors and some outdoor seating. Sensory gardens are evidenced to hold huge therapeutic benefits, particularly for those who have autism and other disabilities. It will not only provide a calm and safe environment for our team, but will also create an amazing project for them to work on and develop.
My aim is to swim 10km on the 10th June in the Great North Swim event on Lake Windermere. This is double the distance I swam last year and the water is much colder, challenging me both mentally and physically!!
