Three years ago, I enquired about doing a tandem parachute jump. This was to be a big tick on my bucket list but unfortunately I exceeded the maximum weight limit. Since September 2022, I’ve lost 5 stone and am now well under the maximum weight so I’ve booked my jump for 7th September to celebrate my weight loss. It makes sense however to do this as a fund raiser for a worthwhile cause. My mother had dementia and Age UK Reading and West Berkshire were very supportive at the time of her diagnosis and beyond. I have friends with family members who are also receiving invaluable advice and support from this local organisation. They have a team of volunteers who offer a range of services to local families dealing with this terrible disease. It’s a cruel disease that robs us of our personalities, our memories, our independence, in fact in robs us of life as we knew it. Not one of us is immune. We never know if or when it may strike but it would be reassuring to know that help us available locally if needed. Yes…my family think I’m crazy and maybe I am but we get one crack at this life. It’s not a rehearsal so why not do something for myself and at the same time support a worthwhile local cause. So please, consider offering your support and remember, every £1 will help
