Hi, my name is Andrew and I have been working for Age UK (formerly Age Concern) Calderdale and Kirklees for 20 years this year. To mark this anniversary I am going to be climbing three mountains in the Lake District (weather permitting!) on Sunday 2nd July and I will be joined by our Vice Chair of Trustees, Tony Hillyard.
The assents will involve over 6,600 feet of climbing via the following famous routes:-
Jacks Rake (Pavey Ark)
Striding Edge (Helvellyn)
Sharp Edge (Blencathra)
I have worked for many years with older people who struggle to pay their gas and/or electricity bills during the cold winter months and witnessed first hand the cruel effect this can have on their lives, so I am raising money for the Age UK C&K Fuel Poverty Fund. The fund supports those most in need to buy new appliances or assist with fuel debt for example so that they can keep safe and warm over winter.
