Hi everyone! I have decided to take on two challenges over the coming 6 weeks to raise vital funds for a great charity, Mothers for Mothers. The first challenge is a sub 3 hour marathon in Abingdon and the second is a 46 mile ultra marathon over the Brecon Beacons. So the first challenge takes place on Sunday 23rd October 2016 where I will be attempting to run a sub-3 hour marathon in Abingdon. To put that in perspective, only 1.6% of all marathon finishers achieve a sub 3 hour result. This will be my first marathon attempt so to say this is ambitious is an understatement! The second challenge takes place on Saturday 19th November 2016 and consists of a mere 46 mile ultra marathon over the Brecon Beacons. The route includes trail, mountain, canal and road running with competitors having to carry full kit over 6,000 ft of elevation gain. The charity I would like to support is called Mothers For Mothers who are a post natal depression support group. They are a group of mothers, who have suffered and recovered from depression, anxiety or isolation during pregnancy or after the birth of one or more of their babies. They are women with lived experience who offer support, advice and information for any concerns or worries mothers may have. The charity has provided invaluable support to my friends and family, for which I am very grateful. They operate on very little finance and therefore rely on fundraising and charitable donations to carry on providing the care and support they give to others. My target is to raise £1,000, which in real terms will mean they can commission a new website and provide over 30 hours worth of group sessions with a trained therapist. If you want to learn more about the great work they do then you can access their website at mothersformothers.co.uk Thank you all in advance for any donation you are able to make, it will make a real difference!
