Day long activities centred around community action projects for which the young people are rewarded with trips or activities. Many of the young people who take part in Transform have been involved with N-Gage's school work, and the community projects support the work done in school, and enable us to assess their interaction outside the classroom.
Why they need our serviceYoung people are often seen as the cause of much community tension. These projects help to redress that stereotype and give groups the opportunity to make a practical positive difference where they live. This helps them appreciate their neighbourhood better and gives opportunities to work alongside other members of the community promoting positive relationships.
Plan and expected resultsPromotion of a sense of citizenship. To increase the confidence and self esteem of young people. To enable the young people to learn new skills and experience working in a team. To empower young people to "transform" their local community working with their peers. To give young people experience of volunteering alongside our team who provide strong positive role models. To challenge local stereotypes of young people.
