This expedition started out as a mission of ‘self discovery’, bit poncy I know, but actually it still is about me. Allow me to explain, as a teen I drank, drank a lot, I drank during school and through collage, my first job in a bank had a subsidised bar and it was acceptable, in fact expected, to drink at lunch times. Whilst most people my age have ‘grown up’ or at least grown out of drinking on the slightest excuse, my drinking turned to a habit and then an addiction that has plagued me for more than 20 years. With the support of my family and an organisation called ‘Resolve’ who specialise in supporting and helping to rehabilitate people who are alcohol dependent I am now completely off the dreaded booze. Hence this trip, it’s an opportunity for me to find out what Lee is like without alcohol.
My aim is to help the organisation that helped me and possibly could have saved the person who died if Resolve had the resources to increase awareness of their existence.
I will be posting regular updates and pictures/videos as I go and I would like to thank Proviation for donating a solar charger which will allow me to keep my kit up and running for the stretches of coast where I won't have an opportunity to 'plug in' so just when you thought 'his batteries must be dead by now, perhaps we'll get a break from his wittering' as Arnie said "I'll be back". Proviation have got some great kit, take a look at them at
