Our Restaurant, Trullo in St Paul's Road London N1, has been supporting Manor Gardens Welfare Trust's Friendship Network for many years by asking diners to add £1 to their bill towards the charity. Last year we decided to do a bit more and run the Hackney Half-Marathon for them too. We raised over £2,500 which helped recruit befriending volunteers for isolated older people in Islington. We decided that we'd have another go this year and see if we could top that figure, whilst keeping ourselves fit. We're already training and psyching ourselves up for the day, which is Sunday 30th April this year. We've pulled a team together from the Restaurant: Patrick Campbell, Anna Lounguine and Sam James and we'll be joined by some of the Friendship Network volunteers. I should mention some of our staff are also volunteers and visit older people in their homes once a week. Please give us a donation towards our run - the more we get the more inspired we will be to keep going! As well as wanting to raise as much money as we can to support older people we'd also love people to cheer us on on the day. The race starts and and finishes at Hackney Marshes. Runners follow a one lap route, passing sights such as the Hackney Empire, Broadway Market and London Fields. The route also goes via the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, showing off Olympic venues such as the Olympic Stadium, Copper Box and Velodrome.
