Manor Gardens is a health and wellbeing charity based near Finsbury Park. We aim to build strong communities where all people have good health, resilience and opportunity. We help people improve their wellbeing by taking action to improve their lives for the better.
Our work is aimed to help people through early intervention and prevention, tailoring our support to prevent people's health and wellbeing getting worse and preventing them from living fulfilling lives. We understand and work alongside people to develop our community-driven approaches and influence other professionals to effect wider system change.
Why the community needs us
Our local community is very diverse and based in one of the most deprived parts of London, often overlooked due to the pockets of considerable affluence close by. We work with families through our Starting Well service and nurseries. In particular, we support refugee and migrant families access the healthcare they need during pregnancy and early parenthood through bilingual advocacy and timely information. We support adults through our Living Well service, particularly helping people with long-term conditions, disability, stroke survivors and refugees and migrants through one-to-one casework and advocacy. Our Communities team holds regular actvities and events at our centre to enable clients to drop in and socialise at our coffee mornings, practise their English at our Conversation Cafe and take up arts and crafts and gentle exercise to improve wellbeing. We provide therapeutic support to women affected by FGM across London.
Our support for local people throughout the pandemic was vital: our food distribution hub, outbound welfare calls and online groups sustained people through this difficult time.
Our impact on the community
Last year we directly supported 2,000 people through one-to-one support and activities.
