I am taking part in the John Taylor Hospice Birthday Walk on 6th October 2013, in memory of my lovely dad, Peter Wilkins , who passed away there on 21st July 2011 after battling with cancer. He was just 65 years old.
To say that the hospice is a wonderful place probably seems an odd thing to say, but it truly is.
The care that was given to my father during his last few days, which were spent at the hospice was second to none. He was treated with respect and understanding and I know he felt secure and peaceful.
The support that my mom, myself and my two sisters received from the hospice during what was the worst time of our lives was amazing, we were given every comfort we would need so that we could remain with our dad right til the very end.
Dad passed way peacefully, with "his girls" as he called us by his side. It is a great comfort to all of us to know that he was pain free and comfortable.
John Taylor Hospice is not fully funded by the NHS and needs all our support to continue its fantastic work. I would hate to think a family could not receive the help and support we did due to lack of funds.
Myself and my two sisters and friends are taking part in this walk together, so please support us if you can. No amount is too little (or too big!!).
Come on peeps, you know you want to!
