Wilson the Beagle and his Mum, me, have been supporting our local Mind in Dudley for 5 years. This year is special as we are joined by our new recruit, the lovely Mavis, who now wants to help raise much needed funds, while walking the beautiful and fascinating 12 mile Dudley Trail.
Our little family are passionate about promoting good mental health and wellbeing. We know just how important it is that everyone and anyone should have access to the best support, just when they need it, whether that be in times of crisis, recovery, ill health or life change. Mental health problems are indiscriminate and know no age or boundaries.
For many, our local Minds have been a lifeline and one day could be ours. The reality is that despite the political talk of raised awareness and promises of greater investment, local council budgets have disappeared and support facilities withdrawn. Mental Health charities have had to change tack and react fast, relying more and more on public and service user good-will and fundraising.
The good news is that Dudley Mind work exceptionally hard at the local level and really do make a difference to people's lives. They run a diversity of activities and projects that benefit all involved. Along with the expert advice, support groups and facilities they have offered for a number of years, they are now building an expertise and solid reputation for Training in organisations ranging from 'blue light' to the factory floor.
Please help us :
- to increase the awareness of mental health and wellbeing
- to end the stigma
- to help save lives.
Thank you
