A sponsored rough sleeping event with the aim of raising awareness of the realities of homelessness and raising funds to support the work of MK YMCA. On 19th October between the hours of 7pm and 7am we will be sleeping rough outside the Christ the Cornerstone Church in Central Milton Keynes.

Why they need our service

The YMCA is recognised most for it's work with homeless people. Each night up and down the country YMCAs provide rooms for around 7,000 people who don't have anywhere else to sleep. MK YMCA is the only provider of direct access emergency accommodation for people aged 16-65 in Milton Keynes. In our aim of preventing homelessness we want to raise awareness of the realities of homelessness and raise funds to support the work we do.

Plan and expected results

We are aiming to raise £5000 for the purchase of a minibus which would enable staff to: engage clients in social, recreational and training activities to assist in personal development, enable us to transport clients to community projects that we undertake in the future, transport clients to property viewings and employment opportunities, assist with successful move on by giving us a means of transporting furniture and personal belongs. This would have a huge impact on the work we do.
