YMCA MK takes young adults who have experienced homelessness and unemployment and works with them until they have a healthy sense of wellbeing, are in suitable accommodation and employment, and have developed the skills to sustain both.
Why the community needs us
Over three stages of accommodation across Supported, Shared and Independent Living, our residents have access to their own keyworker or coach who they work with to fulfil their potential. This includes access to support services including on-site mental health counselling, a weekly job club for career guidance, enhancing independent living skills through our diverse activities programme.
Our impact on the community
Our campus can support 199 local young people aged 18-35 within the Milton Keynes community. 64% of young people are at risk of homelessness compared to the national average which gave Milton Keynes the label of Youth Homelessness Capital in the UK in 2018.
In the current climate these numbers are steadily increasing and the demand for supported housing for our young community is increasing.
