I am running the Southampton 10K to raise money for the Winchester Live at Home Scheme who I volunteer with.
The Winchester Live at Home Scheme is a charity offering support and friendship to local older people living in their own homes; helping to maintain independent living, improve well-being and reduce isolation.
Members benefit from a regular newsletter and activity sheet, a birthday card and Christmas present, and the opportunity to join in with a varied programme of outings and events, including an annual holiday.
They run clubs and activities throughout the week including exercise classes, lunch clubs and singing for well-being. Aside from this they also offer a befriending service where a volunteer s visit members in their own home for friendship and support.
They provide transport for members where necessary and also offer one off transport to appointments.
