Two and a half years ago, I rode a brevet for the first time. By accident. I didn't even find out what a brevet was until half way around the 200km course. (Incidentally, brevets are long distance cycling marathons with set control points that you have to pass through within a certain time frame).
I finished the 200km course, just, and vowed never to do one again. But it soon spiralled out of control, and I started riding longer and longer distances...
This year, I've signed up to ride the 1400km London-Edinburgh-London cycle ride. Unfortunately, there's now less than 2 months to go before I start, I've done little to no training and the only 2 brevets that I've attempted in the past 6 months I've had to drop out of halfway.
So right now I really need more motivation - and that's where you come in. I'm looking for training partners, people to wave us along the route (https://londonedinburghlondon.com/route/), and most of all sponsorship for the amazing Refugee Survival Trust, which provides small grants and integrated support services for refugees who find themselves destitute.
The Refugee Survival Trust gives grants (sometimes as small as £36) as a last resort to asylum seekers and refugees when they have no other options left, to cover basic costs like food and accommodation and essential travel, and even these small donations can make a huge difference to someone who would otherwise have nowhere to stay and nothing to eat.
Thanks for your support.
