Building / Adeilad
To create all the positive impact of Circus Eruption, we need a lot of volunteers, a few circus tutors and a big space! We'll make the building fit for initial basic use in 2019, and already know that the local community will add to our existing group of volunteers (particularly in the care of the memorial garden - but hopefully more widely too). We hope that the building's significance and our commitment and experience in positive social impacts can evolve to create a place for everyone.
Why they need our service For 27 years, we've run and evolved our social circus from rented spaces (not 'ours') and charity leases (short-term). Each year, we support hundreds of young people facing challenges to gain new skills, grow in confidence and have fun! We've long recognised the need for a place of our own - this is perfect, and has so much potential. We're borrowing all the funds to buy the former church, but we are reliant on fundraising and grants to bring the building back to life and invest in its future.
Plan and expected results Long term, we'll have a permanent home for Circus Eruption, and we'll bring a deteriorating listed building back to life to become a welcoming and vibrant space! Short term - we'll make it accessible to all, and get the toilets working :). There are two generous spaces and we don't need every inch of the space to run our current work as it is, so over the next couple of years we'll consider how we can expand and/or how we can support and host others in their work towards making things better.
