"If the CAB disappeared people would be in real trouble"
Why the community needs us
We aim to meet the needs of as many people and families as possible in the North East of Glasgow, including people struggling on a low income, dealing with unmanageable debt, facing eviction or repossession of their home, experiencing ill-health or disability or recovering from alcohol or drug dependency.
Our holistic approach seeks to deal with all aspects of a person’s problems, so they can effectively plan and move forward and are not stuck in a cycle of crisis.
"I like the fact that they explain things to you. They don’t just do them and send you away. They talk about what things mean to you, they get deeper into it and they help you that way."
Our impact on the community
Last year:
• Our advisers helped 2,650 people with over 16,000 separate issues or problems (with money-related issues including social security benefits, debt, finance and charity support accounting for nearly three quarters of our work) and secured over £2.3 million in additional income for our clients
• Our campaigns and events reached a further 3,678 people
• 37 volunteers received training in advice with six volunteers moving on to take up paid employment or further education
“The staff helped me greatly, this service is a godsend as I was at my wits end now I'm more relaxed”.
"My time volunteering helped me to develop all of these skills and was directly responsible for helping me find paid employment."
