Can you support playful forest school activities? Would you like to help support our Frome community while enhancing local people's relationship with the natural world? Donations to Shared Earth Learning really make a difference in people's lives!
Most of our sessions are for children and adults who normally don't have access to such activities.
We believe that all of us have the potential to do well if the right support is available. Children and adults can be caught in a merry-go-round of boredom, low self-esteem, and lack of direction. This can turn into feelings of isolation and resentment. It can negatively impact us; at school, at home, in our community and at work.
Many children who are struggling in schools can really benefit from spending some time outdoors in a supportive environment. One of the main things we focus on is emotional literacy; recognising feelings and knowing how to manage them. In both our child and adult sessions there are many other benefits including a sense of belonging and usefulness, connecting with nature and with other people, and learning new skills.
What your donation could support.
We mainly need funds for infrastructure and for subsidised holiday forest school places. We also want to employ a site manager. These things can help Shared Earth Learning to become stronger and more sustainable. You can help us make sure we can continue providing support where it is most needed.
So what kind of things do we need? - Waterproof clothing and warm socks for those that need to borrow them. Being cold and wet makes learning impossible!
- Manure and tools. Growing food and building things is hard with hands and enthusiasm alone! For example, a saw costs £15.
- New hammocks.
- improving our infrastructures.
- replacing tarps.
- We would also love to provide more subsidised places for our holiday forest school sessions for those who can’t afford the full price. Giving £20 can enable a family to pay just £10 for a day session.
Volunteers needed
We always welcome new volunteers. Without our amazing volunteers, we couldn't do what we do! We welcome volunteers to come along and support our work by offering their time to assist with gardening and vital site maintenance; mostly on 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month and lots of tree-planting on the new hedgerow between November and February..
