Telford Crisis Support Food Bank
To ensure that "No-one need go without the basic essentials to keep themselves and their families sheltered, fed, clean, clothed, warm and healthy" Food and other essential items are donated by the public, and emergency parcels are then sorted by volunteers and distributed to various collection points across the borough for people most in need. "You made life bearable when we thought we were at a lost cause, whether that was a cup of tea, a hug, a smile, just some friendly company"
Why the community needs us
We ensure that food is directed to those most in need. Based upon the crisis of that particular person, we can signpost them to the relevant organisation that would be able to offer the right support. For example, if one of our service users happened to mention that they've ran out of money from their benefits, we'd make sure to provide the relevant information regarding financial and budgeting support such as the money matters team or the Citizens advice bureau. Our aim is to help that person
Our impact on the community
In the three years the Food Bank has been in operation we have provided 58,248 meals 6472 families. We have helped save tonnes of food being wasted in a land fill site. We have and are continuing to build links with local food providers so that we can continue to help save food waste. We are hoping to open a cafe and drop in
We are a local foodbank we need drivers to pick up donations and deliver to the centres where people can pick up their food parcels. We are also looking for people to help with fundraising and PR and social media.
